| Berlin war seit jeher ein Anziehungspunkt für Menschen mit außergewöhnlichen Lebensentwürfen, die sich nicht in die gesellschaftliche Norm einfügen. Julia Ostertag war über ein halbes Jahr hauptsächlich im Alleingang mit der Kamera in Berliner Clubs unterwegs und hat ihre Begegnungen mit Tunten, Drag Queens und Transgenderpersönlichkeiten in diesem Film dokumentiert. Eine Porträtsammlung unterschiedlicher Charaktere, die äusserlich "weder Mann noch Frau" sind, zeitweise oder dauerhaft ihre geschlechtliche Identität wechseln oder völlig neue erfinden. |  |

Eine Hommage speziell an die traditionsreiche Berliner Tunten- , Drag Queen- und MtF-Transgender-Szene, eine Huldigung an die persönliche Freiheit und den Mut zur sexuellen Selbstbestimmung. |
| Berlin has always attracted individuals with unusual ways of life, which don't conform to normal social conventions. For more than half a year Julia Ostertag took her camera round the Berlin clubs, mostly on her own. This film is the record of her encounters with the "tunten", drag queens, and other transgender people she met - a gallery of portraits, depicting various individuals who, on the face of it, are "neither man nor woman", who have temporarily or permanently changed their sexual identity, or recreated it from scratch. |  |
They discuss their attitudes to their respective lifestyles and offer insights into their motivations, which transpire to be equally multifaceted as the people themselves. Aside from the confines of definition and convention, the questions which emerge include: What is gender? What is identity? Are there really only two sexes, man and woman, or others too? |  |

As well as role-play, a play on perception threads its way through the film, with atmospheric, and at the same time genuine, images. Above all the film is a homage to the rich tradition of the "tunten" scene, of drag queens and male-to-female transsexuals, a tribute to personal freedom and courage in asserting the right to sexual self-determination. |
